For my long term readers, you may observe that my website has been given a facelift. No longer is there the stock photo of a guy swinging a golf club and a feel of fairways on the computer screen. My last post (shown on the right) had a picture of me with a big old golf trophy so I don’t need to have too much golf on this site. People will think I don’t do anything else. Besides, I’ll take a picture with the trophy over a good looking golf swing anytime.
Those golfers in the crowd may say “Hey, that’s a good looking website. Why Spend the Money on a New One?” And I agree to a certain extent. I loved the feel of the old site because it was about one of my passions – GOLF.
But the reality is that I don’t make a living on Golf — In fact it costs me a fortune. And for me to give instructional lessons would be detrimental to both the student and to my enjoyment of the game.
However, I do make a living and am also passionate about helping people with their sales and marketing. There is no way the old site would convey my stature as the Foremost Authority on Innovative Marketing Strategies to Get Customers Into Your Store Right Now. I have spent my career as a retailer and trusted advisor to major retailers studying and testing marketing strategies and techniques.
Over the last several years with the rise of Internet, email, social media, mobile phones, Google, ecommerce and so much more I have watched, learned and personally experimented with new ways for all kinds of companies, especially retailers, to Get Customers Right Now into their stores or places of business. These new marketing strategies put to shame the old advertising media like TV, Radio, Newspaper or the Yellow Pages for several reasons:
- The new marketing media can be specifically targeted to the exact customer or prospect you are looking for when they are looking for a solution to the problem you can solve.
- The new marketing media is accountable. You know who you are getting and where they are coming from.
- The new marketing media is extremely cost effective in relation to the costs of the old media solutions because you are not buying mass audiences – just those who are a fit for your offerings.
- This new marketing media can be used easily by anyone whether you are a mom and pop retailer, a big service provider or a sales representative. You can advance your business interests quickly and easily if you know the path. To do this you can make the mistakes of learning or you can find someone who is ahead of you in the process and watch what they do and how they do it. You’ll still make some mistakes, but hopefully not as many as if you went out on your own.
Number 4 above is part of the reason I have decided to put up a new website and commit to sharing my ideas with you. I have made numerous mistakes as I have learned these great new marketing strategies. But I have had some great mentors as well that have shared much of their best stuff to help me further my sales and marketing career.
I have been very successful over the years winning all kinds of awards: Entrepreneur of the Year from the Small Business Association, Fastest Growing Business Three Years in a Row from the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, over 15 National Salesman of the Year Awards from factories, finalist for Glazer Kennedy Marketer of the Year and more.
But I’m a guy who believes that the more you give the more you receive back in return. So I truly believe that as I continue to learn and test new ideas, if I share these stories to help others be successful, then I will benefit as well.
That’s it in a nutshell. I know a lot about being successful in sales and marketing, I’m going to share much of this information with those of you who are interested, and together we will prosper with New Cost Effective Marketing Media Strategies.
PS. If you like the direction I am taking please let me know below with your comments. If you want to have me address specific types of marketing ideas, let me know as well.
PPS. If you would rather me write about golf stories or how to get a good looking golf swing, let me know as well. It won’t change anything with this website, but might give me ideas for another one.

Great new look Mike. Love your approach to sharing your invaluable insights with retailers and manufacturer representatives. Thanks.
Mike
I like the new layout of your site.
I think you are way ahead of the curve with respect to this site. Many people want to be authentic on a Facebook Page, but to actually bring your own site to life by being real and authentic, people will want to connect with you more.
Thanks for sharing and I look forward to reading more in the future.
