Meet Mike Root…

Mike is the foremost authority on innovative marketing strategies to get customers into retail stores right now. He is an ultimate marketing specialist dedicated to helping his clients sell more.  He has spent his career as a retailer and trusted adviser to major retailers studying, testing and teaching marketing strategies and techniques that bring results. His background and expertise has allowed him to help a variety of businesses achieve superior marketing results through use of new cost effective media solutions.

Mike is a third generation furniture guy, and owner of the premier sales rep agency Furniture Sales of Mid-America. Located in Omaha, Nebraska and in business since 1964, Furniture Sales has built a solid reputation on selling truckloads and container loads of furniture to top retailers in the Midwest and Rocky Mountain Regions. In the last ten years alone, Mike’s firm has been honored with over 15 National Salesman of the Year Awards from Major Factories.

Mike has worked on all sides of the supply chain gathering valuable experience and knowledge of customer expectations at every stop. After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a business degree in Accounting, Mike was a CPA in a Big 8 Public Accounting firm, gaining tremendous knowledge about important financial matters.

From there Mike owned a chain of rental stores and then a chain of retail stores as well as a wholesale distributor. Over time, there were numerous awards all pointing to a strong emphasis on sales, marketing and taking care of the customer. These awards include:

  • The Small Business Administration’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year.
  • The Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce honor as being one of the Top 25 Fastest Growing businesses in the state for three years in a row.
  • Glazer Kennedy Insider Circle’s Marketer of the Year Finalist

Mike also serves on the Executive Committee of IHFRA, the International Home Furnishings Representative’s Association and writes an online column for the national trade paper Furniture Today called ‘From a Rep’s Perspective‘. This column can be found at www.FurnitureTodayBlog.com.

Mike is also a co-author with famed direct marketers Dan Kennedy, Bill Glazer and Lee Milteer of the book, “Secrets of Peak Performers”.
